Changing Ways, the lead clinical site for Caring Dads, hosts 2-day Advanced Training for Caring Dads, typically once a year around June, in London, Ontario, Canada.
Advanced training is designed for Caring Dads facilitators who have lead at least three group cycles. Supervisors and managers of sites where facilitators are receiving advanced training are also eligible to attend. Advanced training brings together experienced group leaders for in depth discussion of challenging group issues.
Topics include:
- Advanced skills for avoiding confrontation
- Working more effectively with referrers
- Practice in identifying core treatment goals for clients
- What to do when men do not appear to be changing
- Processing challenging information from mothers
Advanced training is interactive and participatory and involves review of footage of past Caring Dads groups. Participants are encouraged to bring case examples and challenges to work through.
Course tuition is $400 per person and includes continental breakfast, lunch and refreshments.
